Social media and much of mobile communications has long been seen as a trend adopted by tweens and college students. However, recent data show that neither MySpace nor Facebook were lying when they stated that a good number of their members were adults.
Adults using social media and mobile communications such as texting to communicate are increasing. To the point that 85% of those 18-34 rely on at least one Web 2.0 method of communication.
While the numbers may still be skewed to a younger audience, it is critical to note the increases of use versus previous years. Social Media and Web 2.0 are no longer a trend.
